Dear Ben Gibbard,

From Shelly Ngo '07

Dear Ben Gibbard,
I’, really excited about going to prom, and I really wish that you can go play music for Rosemead High School’s prom. Your music is the bomb and I really like listening to it. Its also one of the reason why we choose one of your songs as our prom theme. After listening to one of your song for the first time, I thought that it sounded really nice and meaningful. I’ve been listening to music every single day, practically my whole life, and I’m kind of picky about what type of music I listen to. I always listen to your songs whenever I feel sad, and the lyrics really helped me feel brighter. I became a fan of your music and told my friends to listen to it. They told me that they actually loved your music too. They also want you to go play at our prom too. We would be very happy and it’ll be an unforgettable prom if you can come to play. I really hope you can come!

Sincerely,
Shelly Ngo

From Elaine Chan '07

Dear Ben Gibbard:
Hello I am a student that attends Rosemead High School in a small town. Rosemead is such a small town; its high school isn’t even listed in wikipedia unlike Mark Keppel. Rosemead High is budget deficient and always has power surges its lighting and pipes hasn’t been renovated since the Nixon Administration. The school meals are recycled leftover from June of 1984. I worked really hard for all 4 years and looked forward for prom but was told by the prom committee that they are unable to book your bands. Your band motivated and inspired me work hard and got me through the though times. Please come to Rosemead High School Prom in Universal Studios. Its theme “Such Great Heights” is named after your famous song.

They go through a big amount of work planning prom their hard work always pays off in end. This year we want to ask you to sing at our prom with your AMAZING voice it would make our prom worth while. We are absolutely in love with you and your music. It would be like an amazing fairy tale if you could make it. Please make our dreams come true. See you there J

From Teresa Sy '07

Dear Mr. Gibbard,
My name is Teresa Sy and I am a senior at Rosemead High School. This year our juniors planned an extravagant prom at Universal Studios with the theme “Such Great Heights”. To be able to raise enough money to book such a venue took a lot of planning and hard work. Our junior devoted a lot of time and effort showing great characteristics. With al they have done, they have a final attempt to have you perform at our prom. I know it may seem like a lot to ask, but your presence will teach all the students the possible rewards. To choose what working hard and dedication to themselves. Gwen a budget of $0, the juniors were Able to fundraise enough money to book Universal Studios Hollywood. A place most high school seniors only dream to have their prom at speaking for myself and a majority of my peers, your music is absolutely inspiring. It is an example of music capable of exploration and corruption of young minds. Why stop with your music. Your influence can only grow. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Teresa Sy

From Ben Chan '08

Dear The Great and Wonderful Mister Ben Gibbard,

First and foremost, I just wanted to praise you and your music for its deep influence upon the lives of many. Your music has helped me get through many tough events in my life such as the loss of my beloved Lucky to the hectic and spine-snapping planning of our great 2007 prom at Universal Studios Hollywood. Not to be corny or anything, but I truly do love your music because it strikes a chord within my heart. Actually I'd rather call your music a form of lyrical art. I CRY with emotions when I see your album cover. Well, okay maybe not cry but I feel emotional. That's not corny, rather a bit cheesy, well nevertheless I LOVE YOUR MUZAK.

Well, the main point of us posting all these comments are in hopes that someday, hopefully before our prom, you will read this and laugh at us. Then maybe respond to us, just maybe, but if you don't we will all still love you. It would be great, no actually wonderful if you could appear at our 2007 prom. The theme of our prom, "Such Great Heights" is centered on your song and its lyrics. Even our invitations have a puzzle piece design on the front. Well, I was just wondering if you could find some time in your busy schedule to make any small impression or appearance so that our prom will truly be memorable and it will be a prom of great height. Prom is already a memorable event in a person's life and it would be extremely super duper great if you could just do this one favor. I don't want to be too pushy or too much of a beggar but, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE times sixteen bazillion with a cherry on top and some other preferred fruit toppings.

Sincerely,
your most grateful fan no matter what happens : ),

Dearest Mr. Ben Gibbard,

How are things? Well as for me my life is boring because the place I live in ( Rosemead ), is somewhat boring!!!! You were introduced to me, by my very close friend Matt Drange, your number one fan. When I first started to listen to your music I was at the point at life where I lost all hope. But by listening to your music, you made me not give up at all, you made me strong. When I had a bad day I would always listen to I’ll follow you in the dark and lack of color. Ben Gibbard, you made me not give up on things I longed for. Now as I listen to Such Great Heights I think of Prom and how things will be. How my life will probably change after you come and sing for us. If you come to our prom and sing for the kids who deserve to see you after how much we look up to you, you will make my senior prom, my very last prom UNFORGETTABLE. Like my twin Matt Drange said ‘You only get one prom so make it unforgettable.’

Sincerely,

From Isabelle Troung '08

Hello Mr. Ben Gibbard!

I know this may all seem cliche having students constantly ask you to play at Rosemead's Prom 2007, but I'm going to ask you again and again and again and AGAIN. With one simple appearance at this year's prom, it can make such a huge impact on the students who attend. From choosing where prom's going to be, to choosing the centerpieces, this year's prom is missing "the final puzzle piece," you. With anxiety and hopefulness, Rosemead's students are eager to attend and wait upon your decision of your arrival. So please Mr. Ben Gibbard, I beg of you, to please play at our prom! Prom only comes once a year and this would be prom history if you were to be there. Thank you for your time and hope to see you there!

- Love a hopeful student, Isabelle Truong

From Brenda Ibarra '08

Dear Mr. Ben Gibbard,
Okay, so a little birdie told me that there was this tiny slight chance that Rosemead,
WE, could have <3en Gibbard, YOU, play our prom on Saturday, April 28th at Universal Studios, and I was like “shut up! No way!!!” My ears didn’t believe what they were hearing. So then I thought what were the possibilities of you, sir, to come to our prom, I mean how in the world were we going to get to you to come. But you know, nothing is impossible, and we do have a kick- butt junior cabinet, who comes up with the most creative ideas ever! Seriously, the junior class cabinet has been working so hard organizing our junior/senior prom. These are the most devoted and charismatic kids one can ever encounter, with the most enthusiastic advisor, Mr. Sandoval. I know all these guys personally, and this is why I have no doubt that this will be an awesome prom, but if you were to come, this will be the most incredible, unforgettable, and entertaining prom in prom history! Your music is just heart-filling, everyone in Rosemead loves your music. “Such Great Heights”, other than this years prom theme, is also Rosemead’s anthem, everyone has it on their ipod, as their MySpace profile song, and as a matter of fact I’m hearing it right at this very moment while I’m writing this letter to you. No kidding. Mr. Gibbard I think all these letters are a ‘sign’ for you to come and perform at our prom. We would really appreciate it, who am I kidding, we are dying for you to come. PLEASE! So, there is just one thing left to say, Mr, Gibbard you should “come down now” to Universal Studios and you’ll see us “waving from such great heights”.

with lots of hope and love,
Brenda Ibarra ‘08

P.S oh! prom day just happens to be one of my best friend’s birthday. She is a big fan of yours. So if you were to play our prom, not only would you make everyone’s 2007 prom unforgettable, you would also make my friend’s 17th birthday the BEST! And I hope you caught the “WE <3 YOU” on my second line. =D

Dear BenG,

How are you? To be concise and sincere, I'm here to beseech to perform at our prom 2007(Universal studio). I am one of your enthusiastic fans ever since your song "Such Great Heights" came out. I listened to it virtually ten times a day for the first whole month when it came out. I loved it and still LOVE IT! It'd be a great surprise and gift to me and other students if you can perform at our prom 2007. It will also benefit you; I'm sure that you will meet new and extraordinary friends while performing at our prom! From Jenny Kan '08

Having attended Rosemead High School for the past few years, I am now a Junior and nothing extraordinary has exactly happened. Usually, people criticize and simply say, “oh, prom?” But, this year, prom is coming up, and we have a big dream.

During ASB senate meetings, I realize the time and effort that our Junior Class cabinet has put towards making this year's prom great. Their creative ideas for fundraising and donations enable us to have our prom at a fascinating site, and I deeply appreciate their dedication. Reaching out to the entire school, Rosemead High School students are motivated to attend fundraisers due to the idea of an unforgettable prom. We all have ONE big goal, that big dream is for you to play at our prom. For me, I see this year’s prom to be the best thing that will happen to any Rosemead High student if you can attend. Not only will you make our prom great, but more than half the school attending will have the chance to reminisce upon your appearance and your performance of the renowned song, “Such Great Heights.” Our Class of 2008 Cabinet has really done a great job, and with you attending this year’s prom, each and every one of us will be deeply grateful. If I could reach you personally, I would literally kneel down and plead for you to perform. But unfortunately, I cannot, and I hope that by writing this letter, you will consider performing at our prom.

Sincerely,
Jenny Kan ’08.

From Elizabeth Medina '10

Dear Ben Gibbard,
I’m from Rosemead high School, and we, us students that come to Rosemead High School really want an artist to come and sing, not just any artist but we want you. Not to sing a thousand songs but at least one song that the students would want to hear. The seniors and juniors at our school have really worked hard and they’ve earned their grades and for them prom is a very big deal because there is only one prom in a lifetime and to make it better and memorable, we would really like for you to come and please play at prom. Prom is the whole reason people go to high school with out prom there wouldn’t be high school.
Though I’m only a freshman I really do think that the seniors at our high school should have an unforgettable prom that when they grew older they can always look back and never ever forget they’re prom and if you come I would be such a great deal it would really mean a whole lot to some of my friends, but it would sure mean a lot more to the seniors.
Can you Ben Gibbard imagine yourself playing at our prom? Because a whole lot of people at my high school can. Just imagine yourself being a senior at any random high school and for your prom you’d want a famous artist, singer to come and play at your prom, an artist that you and all the seniors would want to get for prom. Just imagine how unforgettable it would be, the lights, the people their and the perfect place to have prom at and what could make a lot more better? For our prom we know that if we can get you to play at our prom it would be so much better.
So can you please come and play at our prom !! Students everywhere at our high school want you to play at our prom so much that we bought a website; www.bengibbardpleaseplayourprom.com not only that but that now a whole great deal of students are writing letters to you like myself because we really want you to come lay at our prom.

Sincerely your number 1 fan,
Elizabeth Medina

P.S. Prom will be screwed if you don’t come !!

We’re just asking you to sing some songs, for just one night.

Sincerely,
Kimberly Huynh
