Dear Mr. Ben Gibbard,
I’m thinking it’s a sign that the first formal dance I’m ever attending is themed “Such Great Heights”, one of my favorite tunes, which means that this year’s prom has the potential to be AWESOME. I also, have to speculate, that God himself does mean for you to play at our senior prom. True, it may seem like a stretch, but it would be absolutely mind-blowing if you could come. You should also be flattered that we, tried our best to leave, this desperate attempt on your machine, but we were unable to contact you, hence the forming of this website. If, however, you fail to come, that, frankly will not fly. I’ll be soooooo disappointed! Instead of joyful laughing at prom, you will hear the shrillest highs and lowest lows coming out of our limos. Mr. Gibbard, you have the potential to bring us to such great heights, so please come!
A very excited, expectant, and darn witty senior,
Amy Harris ‘07

Amy Harris, will you go to Prom with me?
i'll go with you if you can convince ben gibbard to play, mr. (hopefully it's a mister) anonymous.
i only wish i had the power to get him to play at our prom, but unfortunatley i do not...and yes, although i have never technically been called mr. anonymous, i am
point taken. anonymity is your thing.
yeah...but it can get pretty boring sometimes though. i mean, i guess what i'm trying to say is that its not all that its cracked up to be, if you know what i mean.
there's a simple solution.
really? do tell.
think about it, mr. anonymous.
hmm...well, i guess i could just click on the other bubble when i publish a comment, huh? i mean, when most people publish a book, they get their names written underneath the date, so i fugure that this is pretty much the same thing, right?
precisely. i'm impressed by the deductive reasoning.
or i could just reveal myself to you in person...you might be surprised (and i would like to see the reaction on your face too)
well i will be happy to give a genuinely surprised reaction in person.
hmm, genuinely...does that mean that you really have no idea as to whom you are speaking to? or is that a touch of sarcasm that i somehow missed in translation?
for once, that wasn't sarcastic. the fact that the posts are anonymous makes it just a tad bit difficult to discern who is actually writing. whoever it is, i have to admit that you have good grammar.
so i take it you have a thing for good grammar, huh?
haha. totally :D
well, than i suppose that i should feel like i have accomplished something to be credited by someone who is as serious as yourself about the matter
oh yes, you should feel quite special. (that was semi-sarcastic)
really, semi-sarcastic...well i guess that would be better than if it were fully sarcastic, right? or is this one of those things where it works in the opposite way?
my sarcasm is getting way too complicated...
well, if you wanted to simplify it, you should have just said something before. we could just put a little reminder at the bottom of every comment from now on if sarcasm is in full effect (but not semi, half is ok:)
well, that sounds semi (jk)... half viable :D and semi is a way cooler word than half.
that's true, cuz i was actually just about to say that. i think it's because not a lot of people use it, so it's fresh...(wow, that sounded a lot worse than i pictured it in my head:)
yeah, out of context that could have been pretty bad.
ouch, that was honest...but honesty can be very refreshing these days
yeah, HONESTY is a good thing. anonymity seems to go against honesty, don't you think? :)
(that was a weak attempt, but i thought i'd try)
no, i actually thought that was a pretty noteworthy attempt. but maybe i don't even really know who i am myself lately...
wow, how philosophical.
well, i probably would have gone with "wow, nice b.s." - but i guess yours works too. its all what you want to say really...
fyi: philosophical was a nice way of saying b.s. :) and i also forgot to put the sarcasm thingy at the end.
oh yeah, i guess i did too. do you think you could forgive me, just this once? (and the next time it won't happen again, as long as it is semi-sarcastic, at least:)
well i guess that i have to forgive you since you said semi-sarcastic.
you have a good point. its kinda wierd how the way that people say things has a huge impact on how they are percieved, huh? sorta like how the way people reveal themselves to others factors in to that all-important first impression:)
oh, how very suave. :) nice way of putting that in there.
i think you forgot the sarcastic thingy...unless that was just semi?
very observant, aren't we :) and yes, that was semi.
oh, well in that case...ok. i usually don't really like it when people do things half way, but in this case i think i could make an exception...
that means alot. my heartfelt thanks.
you know, if you were not serious about keeping with the deal regarding the sarcasm thingy, then you should not have agreed to it in the first place...it is rather annoying when people don't hold up their end of the deal, especially when it was one as formal as we had:)
we had a non-binding resolution :D
damn...i knew i should of had you sign a contract or something...sometimes i leave too much unclear...but i usually get the basics though, at least:)
actually, a contract wouldn't have been valid because you need both people's names, and seeing as we only have one...
hmm...do i sense that you are feeling a desire to have mine revealed?
perhaps
well, if i told you that i had a deal for you, would you 'perhaps' have any interest? (and don't worry, this won't require a contract or anything:)
hmm... a "deal". i am mildly intrigued...
mildly, huh? what if i said the deal was relative to the near future?
i am intrigued.
ok, at least that sounds a little bit better than 'mildly'...i was thinking that since it appears that i will be unable to attend Prom with you (due to previous obligations that i couldn't relieve myself of), i should reveal myself to you this coming saturday night...(that way you can give me your 'genuinely surprised reaction in person')
well i plan to do just that :)
ok...i think we have reached a deal that was relatively painless:) now if you will just sign on the dotted line below, we can make it official (so as to avoid any complications).
X__________________________
Thank You
p.s. oh yeah, and don't worry about your social (identity theft is a big problem these days:)
haha. yeah, after the failed sarcasm deal i think it is wise to put this in writing :)
thats true. but then again, you don't wanna jinx it or anything...and the toner these days is getting pretty expensive, so maybe we could just leave that one alone for now...i mean, it's not like you should have any problems trusting the word of a complete stranger or anything, right?
oh, of course not. i mean, i hear that aside from identity theft, kidnappings and stalking, they're absolutely trustworthy individuals.
all true! (not to mention i hear that every once in a while they can be really nice guys too:)
you mean like the type of person who writes anonymous posts on websites? :)
yeah, he could fit that description...i was recently told by a close friend mine that sometimes not knowing things is actually better than knowing everything, that way you don't worry so much about stuff or overthink the situation at hand (which i am relatively famous for, by the way)...
well i guess that's true.
trust me from experience, it is...its kinda funny, but it still hasn't really hit me yet that Prom is actually tomorrow!
yup, i'm excited!
well, i guess i shall see you there...and don't worry, i'll find you one way or another...
hey, so i finally figured out how to click a different bubble besides anonymous when i leave you a comment. (and to think of all that time that we wasted before)...just thought that the paper could use a little advertisement, thats all. hope you don't mind that it's false or that i didn't pay for the ad space:)
